Install Lodekit
Lodekit installs like any Mac app: one app bundle, dragged into place. Here’s the whole process, including the one extra step a first launch needs during early access.
-
Get
Lodekit.app.Lodekit is in early access: there’s no public download yet, so you’ll receive the app directly from the Lodekit team. It runs on Apple silicon Macs.
-
Move it to Applications.
If it arrived as a zip, unzip it, then drag
Lodekit.appinto yourApplicationsfolder. -
First launch: right-click, then Open.
The early-access app is signed but not yet notarized, so macOS wants a nod from you the first time. Right-click (or Control-click)
Lodekit.appand choose Open, then confirm in the dialog. macOS asks only once — after that, open it normally. -
Watch Lodekit set itself up.
On first run, three things happen:
- The Lodekit icon appears in your menubar.
- Your Lodekit folder is created at
~/Documents/Lodekit, with the Greenhouse and Welcome starter apps already inside — plus a couple of ready-made gateway setups Greenhouse uses for its weather and sign-in demos. - The dashboard opens in your browser at
http://lodekit.localhost:7777.
-
Optional: turn on Launch at Login.
If you want Lodekit running whenever your Mac is on, enable Launch at Login — in the menubar menu, or in the dashboard under Settings → General.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Nothing loads at lodekit.localhost:7777. Click the Lodekit icon in the
menubar and check the status line. If it says stopped or error, choose
Restart from the same menu, then reload the page.
macOS says the app “can’t be opened”. That dialog appears when you
double-click instead of using the first-launch dance. Right-click
Lodekit.app and choose Open — the dialog gains an Open button, and macOS
remembers your choice from then on.
Lodekit is running. Next, give your agent its key: Connect your agent.
